Behind-the-scenes: Think Out of the Box, The Japanese Way

the lens project,

Its beautiful weather this Friday morning! All grey and rainy.. Makes you want to cuddle up to little Dino. You will see Dino if you take a peep at my Instagram 🙂

Its coming to the end of the year. Another 12 more days and we are done with 2014. Time flies..

Here are some outtakes from the photo shoot I did with Wine & Dine Magazine (Singapore) for the November issue titled ‘Think Out of the Box: The Japanese Way’. Food photography has always been exciting for me. Sometimes its hard to contain the excitement and I just feel really happy touching the food and adjusting the potatoes or carrots to stand a certain way. There is much to be said about food photography I suppose. But I think I ‘say’ it best with my camera. Usually there’s hardly enough time for me to take behind-the-scenes pictures because we will style the food and shoot. Then style the next food and shoot. Its almost like clockwork. But with much love in it ^^

A little about the ladies featured here. They started a company that organises cooking events with chefs from around the world. Through their food and cooking events, they want to raise awareness on how precious food is and its origins. If you would like to know more about them, visit them at www.spoonful.sg

Flower Power

Some of the images I took recently from a photo shoot with a lady who loves what she does. She is not just an amazing florist. She turns her flowers into works of art. She is the founder of DeBunga. They do bespoke flower arrangements for all sorts of occasions. There’s always something you can keep with you long after the flowers have wilted.

I had tremendous fun and my eyes just couldn’t get enough of their amazing forms and colours! I know now how Monet felt with regards to flowers.

I’d rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck. ~Emma Goldman

People from a planet without flowers would think we must be mad with joy the whole time to have such things about us. ~Iris Murdoch, A Fairly Honourable Defeat

Flowers… are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1844

When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other. ~Chinese Proverb

I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers. ~Claude Monet

Watch Love

I came across an amazing video from the FStoppers on photographing watches. It reminds me of a once-upon-a-time assignment of shooting watches during the BaselWorld & SIHH of 2006. I went for 3 years in a row. It was a crazy time for photography. I was part of a team to shoot watches for the Revolution Magazine back home. They feature all the latest trends in the world of watches. Continue reading

Mahkota Parade MTV by the Full Pledge Munkees

TLP is really proud to have been a part of the making of Mahkota Parade MTV for the Munah & Hirzi Action! drama series 🙂

It was our first time shooting video for Papahan Films. And we liked it! 😉

We had fun shooting with the band members of Full Pledge Munkees. They were a jolly bunch of lads 😉 They’ve been around for a while. Check them out on their FB page 🙂

Credits for music and lyrics to Andry Sani as well.

Enjoy the MV!

BFF

Updating my links on the website and the blog. Whew.. I have been procrastinating! I suddenly realised there’s so much to update!

Reminiscing on the 6 part television drama I worked on with Papahan Films.

One of their many successful dramas, BFF. I love the energy and the chemistry the 2 main leads have with each other. Adlina and Haizad. Oh wow.. looking forward to more of these kind of projects that sets the heart a thumping 🙂
