October 2014

October 14

I LOVE October! It will always be my special month.

Its also the month where I turn a year older. What does it all mean? Did I get it right? Did I get it at all? So many questions, so many things yet to do. But 1 important thing I realised is to let go. Let go of what doesn’t work, all that hurts, the negative. Its easier said than done. But its one of the most worthy things in life! Because when you let go, you let God. You let God handle all that you can never handle anyway. I still have a long way to go and I have hope for so many things. Relationships, work, life. May this October be a wonderful start to all that is good. Ameen.

How To Slow Down Time

A little tippy tip. I’ve been on autopilot in the last month or so. Until I started to join a class in clinical & metaphysical aromatherapy recently. Couldn’t have felt more alive and excited! Sometimes, we just need to shake things up a little bit. And learning new things helps to do just that 🙂

Do you ever feel like every year time seems to fly faster and faster? Like this summer went by faster than the one before it? Like your kids are growing faster than before?

I do, all the time. And it turns out there are neurological reasons for this.

The older we get, the less new things we experience and learn. Our brains are built to preserve energy so when there is a lot of routine in our lives, we tune those experiences out. In a way, our brains go on auto-pilot and time seems to just float by. The less attention we pay to the moment we’re in, the faster it seems to move.

So what are we to do? The awesome news is that there ARE ways to slow down time — by introducing mobreathmomentre new experiences into our lives and by pausing to appreciate more moments…

We miss you Oringe

my table

Its a Great Monday. And I have flowers on my table! Roses to be exact! 🙂 I LOVE ROSES!! And other flowers too. But roses are almost like how stars are in the sky 🙂 They are amongst many of the Divine beauty on earth.

The flowers mean even more because its in memory of our (my sisters) handsome, intelligent and sweet cat, Oringe who passed away last Wednesday. I’m sort of the caretaker for the flowers after we put a bunch over his grave. Sigh. Nothing like missing someone you love. The void is the most aching part.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. ~Khalil Gibran

This post is just to remember Oringe by. My aversion to writing personal stuffs and posting pictures after pictures of what I’m going through sometimes leave me trapped inside my own mind. So, its nice to just post something personal once in a while.

Afraid of Wednesdays

Ocean Restaurant RWS

So its been 2 weeks. I’m struggling with blog posts. H.a.h.a.

Its a terrible feeling to know that I have to write something and post it every Wednesday just so that I can get in the groove of writing. And I get afraid! I’m afraid of Wednesdays! Its ridiculous.

But.. here I am on a Thursday. A day late. Wooh. Just as fearful.

Security is mostly superstition. It does not exist in nature…Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. The fearful are caught as often as the bold. – Helen Keller

Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart…. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes. – Carl Jung

Life is truly known only to those who suffer, lose, endure adversity and stumble from defeat to defeat. – Anais Nin

All growth is a leap in the dark, a spontaneous unpremeditated act without benefit of experience. – Henry Miller

Success in the affairs of life often serves to hide one’s abilities, whereas adversity frequently gives one an opportunity to discover them. – Horace

On another note, I’ve been following this lady, Alicia Caine at http://www.profitfirstphotography.com/ She’s amazing! And she knows what photographers like me would need. Photographers  who hate self promotion, are frustrated about marketing and the nitty gritty of running a photography business etc. Have a look at the site and see if it will help you 🙂

I’m also re-reading (my second time) Show your Work by Austin Kleon. AMAZING book! Every page is a gem! So, have a read.

Just for your information, this is not paid advertising or anything. Its just whats working for me right now. I want to share in case it can help you too 🙂

So, have a good weekend ahead yeah! I know I’m looking forward to mine! 😀
